The WRTC concept provides all participants with a level playing field, allowing pure operating skill to determine the very best in handling Amateur Radio traffic, using both voice and Morse communication.

"It is essential for an event of this magnitude that we can secure a solid financial base through leading companies in the Amateur Radio field to be able to carry out the event professionally," commented Mr. Atilano de Oms (PY5EG), President of the WRTC2006 Steering Committee. “We are honored to have leading companies support the Games as title sponsors; thus this agreement we have signed with Vertex Standard today illustrates an extremely important landmark for the Brazilians who make a huge voluntary manpower investment in this event”, he concluded.

Mr. Jun Hasegawa, President of Vertex Standard Co. Ltd, emphasized that supporting one of the world's premier on-the-air events for determining the best in fair competition is fully in line with their established strategy for the Yaesu brand. "The brand profile will continue to be focused both on leading DXpedition events as the Choice of the World's Top DXers and on world championships in radio contesting", he added. "We have been pleased with the impact of the previous WRTC event which enhanced our image, realizing that more than 80 percent of the world-class competitors in a similar 2002 event had selected the Yaesu FT1000 series as their radio in pursuit of the world championship", Mr. Hasegawa stated at the press briefing.
