COMMUNIQUÉ No.17 (19.06.2000)

Ljubljana, 19th June 2000

Dear friends,

The clock is ticking and we are only a few weeks away from the WRTC2000. Please find some additional information below.

1. All contest locations on exposed locations (hilltops) are now set. Regardless of the period of the year and expected temperatures in the 30 degrees C range, get ready for some scout conditions. During the competition, some of you will be operating from field day type set-ups. A bit heavier clothing and footwear is therefore highly recommended.

2. The Organization Committee does not intend to take audio recording of any operation. However, if you wish, you may do it yourself. All recording equipment must be supplied by the teams.

3. If you are not going to make it to WRTC2000 and intend to operate in IARU 2000, we kindly ask you to send your electronic log immediately after the contest. E-mail address is WRTC-LOGS [at] kkn [dot] net. Your logs will be used for cross-checking purposes. All logs submitted within 12 hours after the contest ends, will be automatically listed for special WRTC trophies and awards. RRDXA sponsors special awards for ITU zones no. 18, 27, 28, 29, 30, 37 and DJ6QT for zone 45. Generally, a wide selection of awards and trophies is available, so please spread the word in your local amateur radio community.

4. Referee's roster is hopefully closed. The draw decided at which locations Referees are going to be. By the end of June, the Organizing Committee will
also announce the matching teams.

5. Roland, DK3GI, canceled his participation in the last minute, due to his business commitments. The Organization Committee offered empty wild-card
spot to Ben, DL6FBL, who was the next on the list of European wild-card team leaders. Ben accepted the invitation and already announced his team-mate,
DL1MFL. DL6FBL was previously selected by OE2VEL, so Wolf needed a new companion. DL6RAI will now be his WRTC2000 team-mate.

6. All, who submitted the hotel application forms, are now booked. We tried to consider any special needs and requirements. Considering very short time
till the beginning, we appeal on you again, to let us know about your plans during the WRTC2000, so we can take care of logistical needs.
