S50HQ 1999 operation
S50HQ with the special "ZRS" multiplier (IARU member-society HQ station) was put on the air once again by Slovenia Contest Club during IARU HF CHAMPIONSHIP 99 (July 10 - 11, 1999).
Station was operated by Robert, S57AW and Ted, S51TA. We operated on 80 - 10m, mixed mode. Two radios were used, IC-775 DSP (barefoot) as main (transmiting) radio and IC-735 as a spotting station only. Antenna setup consisted of a 3-el triband yagi at 10m and FD-4 multiband dipole at 12m. We were operating from the the top of a mountain Rogla, 1500 ASL (one of the planned locations in WRTC-2000). Operation was similar to the "field day"contest: small tent .... big adventure because of a lot of rain etc...and associated troubles.
The working conditions and the rules followed were similar to the WRTC2000 proposal. We tried to simulate as close as possible the conditions the Teams are going to face in WRTC2000, thus giving a valuable information to the contest community.
